Doleac Electric Company was founded in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1947 by Malcom C. Doleac. The initial capitalization of the company included $500 in cash and a used service truck. The initial work force of the company included Malcom C. Doleac and his good friend Jerry N. Daniel, journeymen wiremen and charter members of then Local Union 1575 of the IBEW.
In the early years, the company performed mainly residential, service work and light commercial work.
After the death of Malcom Doleac in 1972, his sons Donnie and Larry Doleac took over the leadership role in the company. Donnie’s main responsibilities were to manage the inside operations of the company while Larry took on the field operations.
In the early 1980s, the decision was made to pursue more commercial, industrial, retail and institutional projects and to leave the residential market. Since this time, Doleac Electric has been successful in acquiring and performing these projects and has grown from a company with gross sales of approximately $500,000 to $750,000 in 1972 to over $48M.
In November of 1994, Doleac Electric saw an opportunity for growth on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and opened its Gulfport Division office. Under the guidance of Gulfport Division Manager, Warren Saucier and staff, Doleac Electric began to pursue the military construction market at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS, The Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, and Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, MS. At this same time also pursuing industrial maintenance and construction projects along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Doleac Electric has become the provider of choice for the industrial and military market sectors there.
Doleac Electric Company continues to grow its presence in the electrical construction industry in the South. This growth is a direct result of performing quality work – on time and within budget.
